The transformation of our energy system must take place simultaneously at all levels. As with a clockwork mechanism, it is not possible to change one cogwheel alone if the clock is to continue running. That is why it is all the more important that many small renewable energy islands are created which can then grow together. It is great to see the term “grassroots movement” becoming commonplace to describe this, as the article in the Stuttgarter Zeitung sums up very well:
