On February 21, 2020, Andreas Herschmann, candidate for district administrator and board member of Bürgerenergiegenossenschaft Pfaffenhofen, visited Klaus Ostermeier GmbH in Schweitenkirchen. He asked Peter and Dr. Markus Ostermeier about the current state of development of their modular electrolysis system. The Ostermeier brothers are working on a modular electrolysis system in the 5-30 kW power range. The product is intended to help operators of medium-sized photovoltaic systems to give their (surplus) electricity a longer life in the form of hydrogen. Hydrogen produced by electrolysis can be stored for later reconversion into electricity or used as a fuel for mobility.
